Bachelor Of Arts In Nursing Program

Program Purpose Statement

The purpose of this program and the qualification it entails is to help students to acquire skills, knowledge, and experience to work as nursing professionals where they will be able to solve problems, provide care, and provide professional communication by working in a team and individually. This program will also empower students to manage administration, including financial administration, provide organisational support in a health care proving facility of environment, and exercise ethical conduct, values, and professionalism when dealing with patients or clients. Qualifying students can therefore contribute to effective organisational communication and the overall quality of healthcare delivery communication in the public and private spheres.

This training and qualification will be presented via distance learning mode.

Rules

Students must, with every registration for this Bachelor of Arts in Nursing program, submit their Annual Practising Certificate which is issued by the South African Nursing Council (SANC). You must register with the SANC. Do so now if you have not already. Foreign students may register with the Nursing Authority in the relevant country).

Your registration must indicate general nurse and midwife. Students who are not registered as a midwife may only register for the BA (CUR)-HHS.

This program is not open to those with equivalent qualifications. Neither an enrolled nurse nor an auxiliary nurse may register for this qualification. The ENN103F program has recently been replaced by ENG1503. This program is not open to students who have already passed ENN103F.

This Qualification is offered until 2026 and is ONLY for students previously registered for this qualification.

Who can register?

Applicants may only register for this course after they have received confirmation from Unisa that their application for admission has been accepted. Unisa reserves the right to refuse entry, or not to process and/or to cancel any registration if it is found that the applicants have incorrectly admitted to a qualification. Admission to the alternative qualification is not automatic; applications will be successful depending on whether the applicant complies with admission requirements and if space is available.

Returning students may register for the 2021 academic year immediately after the registration period opens.

Unisa Bridging Course for Nursing

At the University of South Africa, you can study for a Diploma in Nursing Education as a bridging course to help you position yourself to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree if you currently do not meet the requirements to enter the course directly. With this program you can expect to be grounded in general health science, and also receive rudimentary training in nursing. Please be informed that the aim of this course is not to put you in a working environment, but to prepare you for a rigorous training regime when you finally do enroll for the Bachelor’s degree in Nursing program.

Requirements

Requirements for a Diploma in Nursing include A National Senior Certificate (NSC), and a minimum of 30% in the language of teaching and learning. For the NSC you are not required to have passed mathematics, and there are no additional requirements of any other subject.
